Instructions for correcting connectivity issues (Search / Updates / Login / Tidal / Qobuz / KKBox) after updating to build 1382
If you’re currently running Roon Server on a music server (other than Nucleus or ROCK), older Linux distribution, or NAS device, and are having trouble with any or all of the following:
- Logging into Roon
- Problems with search
- Problems adding new media to library
- Problems accessing streaming partners (Tidal / Qobuz / KKBOX)
In order to apply this change you will need to navigate to Roon's database directory on your server. We cannot provide exact instructions due to the variety of devices that have been impacted, but the database is typically housed in a folder called "RoonServer" and will always contain the subfolders Cache Database Logs Settings Temp as illustrated below.
Once you've located this folder on your server please follow the instructions below:
1. Stop/Shut down RoonServer - This process is different on every device and operating system, but in most cases you should see the option to stop or disable RoonServer in your device’s control panel.
3. Copy the bits
file
DO NOT RENAME IT OR ADD EXTENSION
4. Navigate to Database/Registry/Core
5. Find the file in that directory named bits
and DELETE it
6. Paste the new bits
file to Database/Registry/Core
7. Start RoonServer
Process on macOS:
Process on Windows:
If you're running Roon Server on older Linux variants:
You can use the IP address of the device to access it like a NAS or network-shared location. You’ll need to use another desktop computer to access the network share location.
- Using a Windows machine:
- Open File Explorer and navigate to \IP_address\Data
- Use Guest as the username and password. You should then see the RoonServer folder.
- Using a Mac:
- Open Finder and navigate to smb://IP_address/Data
- Use Guest as the username and password. You should then see the RoonServer folder.
The IP address is the local IP address for your Roon Server device on the network. Once you’ve located the RoonServer location, then you can proceed from Step One above.
