Troubleshooting Eero Mesh Networks with Roon

Troubleshooting Eero Mesh Networks with Roon

Amazon Eero is a popular WiFi mesh network bundle consisting of a main router and multiple nodes to expand the signal range. Roon users should take care to verify the following settings and conditions with their Eero networks to make the most of their Roon ecosystem and prevent networking issues.

Try rebooting the Eero router

Rebooting will automatically update any outdated firmware and refresh conditions across the network.

Connect your RoonServer machine to the main router with Ethernet

If your RoonServer machine is relying on WiFi or connected to a network node, consider rearranging your setup to connect with ethernet to your main Eero router instead. With RoonServer hardwired to the main router via ethernet, you've eliminated WiFi interference with Roon's main connection to the internet.

Verify Line-of-Sight Between Nodes

Eero nodes don't require a clear line-of-sight to connect to one another, but it can help reduce the impact of WiFi interference on Roon. Try placing Eero nodes high up, and if possible, try to strategically bypass any metal, cement, or reinforced walls through which a WiFi signal might have to pass.

Try temporarily switching off the 5.0 GHz band

Users can temporarily disable the 5 GHz band on their eero network for 10 minutes to help set up 2.4 GHz devices.
  1. Open the eero app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Tap Troubleshooting -> My device won't connect
  4. Tap Temporarily pause 5 GHz
  5. Restart RoonServer, Remotes, and endpoints
