If you've installed an HDD or SSD in your Nucleus, RoonOS must format it before you can store music on it. This guide shows you how to format the drive in the Nucleus Web Administration Interface.

RoonOS 3.0 brings a redesigned Web Administration Interface to Nucleus One and Nucleus Titan. Nucleus and Nucleus+ (Rev A and Rev B) keep the original interface, as do Nucleus One and Nucleus Titan that aren't on RoonOS 3.0 yet. Please see Formatting on Nucleus and Nucleus+ below.

Formatting on Nucleus One and Nucleus Titan

1. Open the Nucleus Web Administration Interface.
2. Click the Storage tab.
3. Find Internal Music Storage. The drive connected to your Nucleus's internal SATA connector is listed here. Until it's formatted, it shows Unavailable.

If Internal Music Storage doesn't appear on the Storage tab, your Nucleus hasn't detected the drive. Please power down your Nucleus and re-check the drive's internal connections.

Formatting permanently erases everything on the internal music storage drive, and it can't be undone. Your Roon database and settings aren't affected.

4. Click Format.
5. In the Format Internal Storage? window, click Format to confirm.

6. Wait while the drive formats. A progress bar shows while it runs, and it can take a few minutes. Roon stops while the drive formats, so you can't play music until it finishes.

7. When the Success message appears, click OK.

The Internal Music Storage card now shows Ready, along with the drive's capacity, model, and a usage bar.

On any Nucleus, it's normal for the available capacity to be slightly less than the drive's advertised size.

If formatting doesn't finish

• The drive is still in use: please reboot your Nucleus from the Power menu in the top right corner, then try formatting again.
• The page loses its connection: your Nucleus's IP address may have changed. In Roon, go to Settings > Setup, click Find next to Find Roon OS, and click your Nucleus's new IP address to open the Web Administration Interface again.

Formatting on Nucleus and Nucleus+

These steps also apply to Nucleus One and Nucleus Titan that aren't on RoonOS 3.0 yet.

1. Open the Nucleus Web Administration Interface.
2. Find the Internal Music Storage section. If it's missing, your Nucleus hasn't detected the drive.

3. Click Format next to your drive. Roon isn't usable while the drive formats, which can take up to 10 minutes, depending on the drive's size and speed.
4. When formatting finishes, the Internal Music Storage section shows OK, along with the space available on the drive.
