Merge Albums

Merge Albums

Merge Albums is a way to combine stray tracks into a single album or create a multi-disc set where the albums are shown as individual discs in Roon.

Combining Stray Tracks in Multiple Albums into One Complete Album

For example, you have two or more albums showing in the album browser or under the Artist page that only have a few tracks in each and, if combined, would produce a complete album. Stray Tracks: Note 2 albums below with some tracks in one album and the rest in the other.

In this case, with the individual albums showing, right-click (or long-press) each album to select. At the top right of the screen, select Edit and under Album Options tab select Merge Albums.

Stray Tracks: Right-clicking (long press) to select and click Edit at the top right of the screen.

With stray tracks being combined, Roon should be able to automatically combine the tracks from each album to create a complete album. On the bottom right of the window, you should see Create Album ( 1 disc, ## tracks). Click the button to have Roon create this album. Roon will automatically try and Identify it. If it’s not automatically Identified, you can try and do it manually. See Identifying Album in the User Guide.

If Roon is unable to automatically create the complete album to your liking and you’re unsure how to proceed, see Fix Track Grouping for more detailed instructions.

Combining Complete Discs into a Multi-Disc Set

Another example would be where you have two or more complete discs that are showing as individual albums, but you would like them to appear as a multi-disc set. In the case of a multi-disc set, as above, select the individual albums and Merge. Again Roon will automatically try and combine the albums into a multi-disc set. If it’s not automatic and you’re unsure how to proceed, please see Fix Track Grouping for more detailed instructions.
