How to Find Your Roon Version and Build Number

What is my Roon version and build number?

Every Roon release has a version number and a build number, such as Roon version 2.71 (build 1684) earlyaccess. Together, they identify exactly which version of the software you're running. You may need this information to confirm you're up to date or when reporting an issue to our support team.

If you contact Roon Technical Support about an issue, you'll usually be asked for your version and build number. Having this information ready can help speed up troubleshooting.

The version number matters most when you can't connect to Roon: the version, not the build, needs to match between Roon Server and your remotes. See Why Can't Roon Remote Connect? for more information.

What's the difference between a production build and an early access build?

Roon has two release types. Production builds are the standard, fully released versions everyone gets. Early access builds let you try new features and fixes roughly 10 days before they reach production, in exchange for a slightly higher chance of running into an issue.

If your version and build number are followed by "earlyaccess," you're on an Early Access build. If they're followed by "production," or have no tag at all, you're on a standard release. If you switch from Early Access back to Production, back up your database first, since some builds include database changes that aren't backward compatible.

How do I find it in Roon or Roon Remote?

On Windows, macOS, iPhone, and Android:

Open Roon or Roon Remote.
Select the menu icon (the three horizontal lines) in the upper-left corner.
Select the gear icon to open Settings.
Go to About.
Your current Roon version and build number will appear there.

The About page shows two sections: Roon Remote (the version running on this device) and Roon Server (the version running on your Core). Each lists its own version, build number, and whether you're up to date.

How do I find it in Roon ARC?

Roon ARC displays this information directly in Settings:

Open Roon ARC.
Select the gear icon to open Settings.
At the top of the Settings screen, you'll see information about your Roon Server, along with your Roon ARC version and build number.

What about Nucleus or QNAP?

Nucleus and QNAP both run Roon Server. The version and build number aren't displayed separately on the device or in its web administration interface.

To check the version of Roon Server running on your Nucleus or QNAP, open a Roon app connected to that server and go to Settings > About.
